Cecilia Silva Valenzuela, PhD

Co-Founder

Cecilia Silva Biochemist, PhD in Biomedical Sciences and co-founder of Microbes Lab SpA. Her work has been focused on the use of genetic tools to understand biological processes such as the colonization of solid tumors by Salmonella, stress-resilience in E. coli and V. cholerae, phage predation and the interaction between protozoa and bacteria.

Fun Fact: Cecilia is a big fan of the TV show “The Big Bang Theory” and any resemblance is pure coincidence! She also has a blog where she narrates her adventures in the world of scientific research at https://www.academic-family.com/

Roberto Molina Quiroz, PhD

Roberto Molina Quiroz, PhD

Co-Founder

Roberto Molina Biochemist, PhD in Microbiology and co-founder of Microbes Lab SpA. His work in the past years has focused on understanding the changes in the biology of human pathogens when exposed to antibiotics and to develop new therapeutic strategies for the treatment of these bacterial agents.

Fun Fact: Roberto really loves football. He has played at competitive level for more than 30 years and he has never been able to sleep well the day before that the chilean football national team has a match (during worldcups it’s even worse)

Alvaro Reyes Vallejos

Alvaro Reyes Vallejos

Chief Operating Officer

Alvaro Reyes is our chief operating officer. Alvaro is a construction engineer. He has worked in various areas of construction, with a special focus of experience on the control and administration of resources, project planning and control to ensure their quality. He has a special interest in teamwork, and in particular multidisciplinary work.



Fun Fact: dog lover and inveterate rocker. Amateur of domestic carpentry, preferably in wood.

R&D manager

Claudio Cappelli is our manager of product development. Claudio has extensive experience in molecular diagnostics. He has worked on biochemistry as an expert at the legal medical service in Chile, diagnosis of diseases and immune response of salmon in situations of stress or infection, and was part of the molecular diagnosis staff for SARS-CoV2. As a researcher, he has been involved in the study of the antitumor immune response, “mitotic bookmarking” associated with cancer and the use of epigenetic drugs as a treatment for neurodegenerative and metabolic diseases. Currently, he participates in a study for the use of nanoantibodies to combat emerging viral diseases.

Fun Fact: Claudio is a lover of sports and the outdoors. But not only by watching games on TV and having barbecues in the park. In fact, Claudio played football at a professional level, is a 1st Dan black belt in Shaolin Chan Kung Fu and a Kick Boxing instructor. He is also captain of a small boat for fishing. Sporty and like any good Italian, he is a fan of good cuisine and a true cook.
